Q: What is the Fayetteville Housing Authority?

A: The Fayetteville Housing Authority is a public agency that helps low to moderate income families, including seniors and the disabled, affordable, safe, and decent housing. The Housing Authority is funded by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and includes the following programs: Public Housing, Section 8 Rental Assistance, Project Based Rental Assistance, and HUD VASH for homeless veterans.

Q: Where do I get program applications?

A: Families can obtain application forms from the Fayetteville Housing Authority’s office during normal business hours. If you are unable to come into the office you may request by telephone, or by mail, that an application be mailed to you via first class mail. In addition, all applications can also be printed from our APPLY NOW webpage (link).

Q: How do I submit my application(s)?

A: Completed applications must be returned to the Fayetteville Housing Authority by mail or submitted in person during normal business hours excluding Friday. Applicants can request a waiver to this policy if needed for a reasonable accommodation.

Q: Can I be on more than one waiting list at a time?

A: Yes, you may be on the waiting list for more than one program at a time. You cannot, however, receive assistance from more than one program at a time.

Q: How will I know when my name comes up on the waiting list?

A: Once you are placed on a waiting list you will be given the wait time relevant to the program you are applying for. This will give you some idea about when you should be contacted for housing. You will be contacted by mail when your name comes to the top of the waiting list and the program you applied for has openings. It is your responsibility to keep an up to date address with the Fayetteville Housing Authority.

Q: How do I update my contact information?

A: To update your contact information you must bring your new information into the office in writing or send it to us by mail. No changes can made over the phone.

Q: Do you have emergency housing?

A: No, unfortunately The Fayetteville Housing Authority does not offer any emergency housing services.

Q: Do some people get priority over other families waiting for apartments or Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers?

A: No, the Fayetteville Housing Authority does not give any priority over other families for any circumstance or reason. Our programs are a first come, first serve basis that is determined by the time and date that the application is submitted to our office.

Q: Can I transfer my public housing or Morgan Manor assistance?

A: No. Public housing is non-transferable. Morgan Manor Multi-family cannot be transferred either.  Only Section 8 Vouchers can be ported to other areas.

Q: What are the business hours?

A: Fayetteville Housing Authority offices are open Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00pm. We close at 4:30pm on the 1st-5th of each month. Office also closes each day from 12pm-1pm for lunch.

Q: How can I reach Maintenance for an after-hour emergency? (Public Housing and Morgan Manor ONLY)

A: For after-hour maintenance emergencies, please call the office at 479-521-3850 and press 2 when prompted to reach the on-call maintenance line.

Q: What if I am not a Housing Authority client, but I am a renter or a homeowner having a problem related to housing. Can the Housing Authority help?

A: Unfortunately, we are unable to help with any tenant-landlord disputes that do not involve residents that are currently on one of our programs.
